Chris McGoey-Smith: An Entrepreneurial Soul and Passionate About Computers

You need not look any further than Rocky Mountain Computer Repair's owner, Chris McGoey-Smith, to feel the passion that underscores the company's culture. Chris has an entrepreneurial soul and computers on the brain. Chris entered the world of entrepreneurship as a four-year-old, running a lemonade stand that drew more business than his parents' garage sale. He followed this success with a snow shoveling operation in the fourth grade that saw him single-handedly clearing his neighbourhood's sidewalks while the rest of his class built snow forts.

Just as he became an entrepreneur at an early age, Chris was in touch with computer trends well ahead of his peers. He had his first website in the sixth grade and owned a domain name two years later. By ninth grade he'd started a website design company and by 11th grade the company was officially named Web Your World.

After some time spent participating in a Microsoft research study, at a job with IBM, attending business classes at The University of Alberta and working part-time for Telus, Chris decided to concentrate on his business full-time. It was at this time that he decided to direct his love of computers into a second company. In November 2009, Rocky Mountain Computer Repair was born, the name chosen to reflect the pride Chris has for the majestic area he calls home. In January 2010, the company was officially open for business.

August 2010 marked two years since Chris began working for himself full-time - and he's never looked back. Chris is one of those fortunate people who can truly say that they love what they do.
